Bio
Jeff Asselbergs has been a hobby musician for several years and has played in a wide variety of bands. His first band was with his big brother Jeremy, who has always had a drums set. The band was nameless and played a strict diet of Motorhead, Slayer Venom and Black Sabbath songs.

Jeff's next band was Voluntary Exile. Starting out originally as a Rolling Stones cover band, the band involved into much more and began to win a few local contests and notoriety. It was this band where Jeff began to cut his teeth in terms of playing live and diverse audiences. The band played a couple of memorable and drunken shows but always maintained a strong work ethic towards the music. It was in this band that Jeff met Aaron Reid and would later go on to form the Nurk Twins singing Beatle songs as an acoustic duo. Voluntary Exile ended when everyone involved, except Jeff, went to college or university.

Left to his own devices Jeff started looking for local musicians to form a new band. He stumbled upon Mitchell Hall and John Millar accidentally after Jeff's memorable party he threw in honor of his parents going away on vacation, but that's another story altogether.

Jeff John and Mitch formed the Merry Wannabees. They crafted an instinctive and original sound that captured fast local attention. This was a short lived band. The band was solid, but creative differences drove the band apart leaving Jeff again looking for a band.

Jeff played in a handful of bands that didn't seem to go anywhere, so Jeff packed up his ambitions and moved to Holland to start a new life.

While there Jeff formed and fronted Deen Gray, a Green day cover band playing shows in some of Holland's most famous clubs. This too was short lived and more for fun. Jeff also played a short stint as bass player for Harbor 81 and auditioned for All for Nothing unsuccessfully before returning to Canada in early 2008 to form MrJelly.
